vegan mezzelune |
Here I am to describe my second time at Julienne.
First time, one year ago, the restaurant had been just opened and the food was already great, now is excellent. (http://vivigreenkate.blogspot.it/2016/09/julienne-ristorante-vegetariano-e.html)
At Julienne you can find a vegan and a vegetarian menù, but the place is mostly vegan. All the products are highly selected by the chef and staff and they're usually local and seasonal.
In the region of Emilia there are a lot of long time traditions such as filled pasta, lasagna and so on. But Julienne is able to replicate and evolve a lot of traditional dishes.
The products are all organic and the preparation is healthy and tasty.
This time I had a zucchini cream soup and it's not easy to describe the freshness of it, the crunchiness given from the hazelnuts and the spiciness of the sprouts was only perfect with the sweetness of the zucchini. Not a soup, but the real deal.
Then I had the mezzelune pasta filled with veggies, simply amazing and the pasta dough very rich and intese.

My boyfriend had spelt ravioli filled with ricotta and wild herbs and tomino cheese with grilled veggies. The desserts were both vegan: chocolate lava cake with wild berries and lemon cheesecake with apricot sauce.
In words I cannot describe how good it was, you really have to try it.
What about the bread? Homemade! Amazing and so healthy! Great wine selection too. When in Modena, try Julienne! Compliments to the chef Giuliano Parmeggiani, a true researcher of fine food, traditions and innovation.
A special thanks to Alessandro Braida (one of the owners) who introduced me to this amazing place!
